Req 2: Writing Quality

To obtain a job in public relations or any communication field, a blogger must be able to present a piece and get the point across to their audiences successfully. They can accomplish this by honing their writing skills with practice and focusing on the quality of the work they produce. Writing quality involves all aspects of writing, such as diction, sentence structure, proofreading, and countless other factors. All of these characteristics mesh together to potentially make a piece interesting and effectively written. The way to gain and retain an audience in blogging is if the reader is entertained and their interest is piqued, and this can be accomplished if the quality of writing is up to par.

An intro, body, and conclusion should be made for each post in order to arrange thoughts in a way that makes sense to the reader. Even within a format containing several paragraphs, the blog post should stay on topic with the main point stated in the beginning. With blogs, public relations professionals are able to reach audiences in a professional manner yet do so in a way that appeals to the side of publics that are human. Blogs can be creative and clear yet executed with business goals in mind. It is crucial that the writer maintains the same tone throughout the piece, intended for their targeted audience. If the audience lies within a segment that is made up mostly of millennials, a writer should use word choice common to this age range. Your purpose for writing varies, but your pieces are always made for the public.

I almost got to the end of this post before realizing my point had already been made, because this blogger’s quality of writing is concise, clear, in a conversational tone and active voice. The audience is addressed as “Girls,” which shows us that she targets a specific segmented audience and writes in a language girls will understand. It works in the writer’s favor to increase their writing abilities if what they’re speaking about is something that fuels their passion, and a blog is meant to do just that.
